State Sen. Chuck Weaver (R-Peoria) attended his first legislative day and cast his first two votes during the October 20 Senate Session.

“I was excited to get to work, albeit there is a great number of budgetary issues that are still unresolved. Today was a great experience,” Weaver said. “I am optimistic for our state’s future and will be anxiously awaiting to working with my new colleagues and the Governor to get Illinois economy back on track.”
Weaver’s first votes were on the appointment of State Rep. Frank Mautino of Spring Valley to assume the office of Illinois Auditor General and a “trailer” bill on education. The new Senator also met with a number of public university students from across the state as they lobbied for college funding and a permanent budget resolution.
